One Program, two qualifications
The best of both worlds

Unique: In September 2004 Business School Notenboom started with the first year of a new degree program: a three-and-a-half year international  Program, accredited in both The Netherlands and the United States of America, respectively as a Professional Bachelor of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in International Business or Business Administration.

The new Program is the result of a working partnership between Business School Notenboom in The Netherlands and Western International University in the United States of America. Not only does the program contain the standard elements of business programs the world over, such as marketing, communication, public relations, accountancy and business economics, the program is also tailored to include both elements particular to Dutch educational requirements, such as European Law and traineeships aimed at personal professional development, as well as elements particular to American educational requirements, such as foundational courses and detailed attention to communication and understanding in an international business context.
An exciting challenge for students!

Reap the benefits
The program will give you considerable advantages, preparing you for the commencement of your international career, or paving the road towards a Master Degree of your choice, anywhere in the world. The program is offered at our campuses in Eindhoven, Maastricht and Hilversum.

For Whom?
The program is aimed at motivated students who recognize that a practical, workplace-oriented education is highly valued in the international marketplace. A (Senior) High School Diploma, GCE or equivalent is all you need in order to qualify for the Application Process for the program. As part of the Admissions Process non-native speakers of English who do not have Dutch nationality will have to take a language proficiency test.

For more information regarding admissions please contact our Admission Office (Tel: +00 31 (0)35 750 2998).

Our American Partner?
Western International University (WIU) is a subsidiary of the Apollo Group, Inc., the market leader of private education in the United States, with its main campus in Phoenix, Arizona. Western International University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. WIU offers Undergraduate (Bachelor) and Graduate (Master) programs in the fields of Accounting, Business, Business Administration, Information Technology, International Business and Management.

Who will be teaching you?
All our faculty members have worked as professionals in an international environment or have been trained on an international level. They are highly qualified and dedicated to student success.

We place great value on the American teaching style. This means that you, as a student, are expected to participate actively in the lessons. Research has shown that the dynamic, interactive and student-oriented American methods of teaching render a great deal of personal yield. Moreover, the courses are constructed to accommodate the most effective learning strategies. This means a lot of contact hours in the classroom and a progressive build-up of your academic achievements.

A perfect combination

English language: a headstart
All classes will be taught in English. Does the thought of this give you cold feet?
Do remember that a business course offered in English gives you tremendous advantages. And do not fear: you will become accustomed to it before you know it. Nevertheless, should you encounter problems we will provide extra support to keep you "up-to-date". It is with good reason that we are acclaimed for our excellent student guidance.

Naturally, your acquisition of Business English is an important part of the program, and you can rest assured that you will have a fluent command of English at the end of the course.

About the Program
The educational program is full-time, consisting of 24-26 contact hours a week spread over four days. Integrated into the curriculum is the use of projects and cases, with special emphasis on international projects. Multi-media techniques and tools will be employed, such as cd-rom, internet and the online virtual library.

The first year is a general introductory year. At the commencement of the third year, you will be required to choose between Bachelor of Science in International Business or Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. These two programs are specialisations within the overall course. In addition to one of these two American qualifications you will also receive the Dutch Higher Professional Bachelor’s Degree of Business Administration.

Traineeships
The traineeships form an important part of the program. At the end of the first and second year every student will complete a fourteen-week traineeship at an internationally orientated company. The program is completed, or "capped", by an eight month management traineeship at the end of the third year. Business School Notenboom has extensive experience with traineeships and has an excellent traineeship program in place, including counselling and more than adequate attention for personal professional development. Students will benefit from this experience and approach.

Do you dare accept the challenge?

Benefits of the program

  • "From a career perspective this would certainly be an advantage."
  • "Two degrees would offer you a much better chance on the market."
  • "Two qualifications seems like a fantastic opportunity to me. I think it would be beneficial for the rest of my working life."
  • "Some titles cannot be obtained in the Netherlands, in which case the English language bachelor is very handy, two for the price of one!"
  • "The international context and nature of the program are very appealing"

Summing up the Advantages

  • Classes will be taught exclusively in English
  • The faculty members are native speakers of English or else have an extensive background in international business.

Upon successful completion of the course the students obtain:

  • A Dutch HBO-Bachelor degree (recognized by the Dutch Ministry of Education)
  • An American Bachelor degree (Bachelor of Science – academic level)
  • Easier access to American Master programs in the United States through our co-operation with WIU.
  • Because of the academic nature of the Bachelor of Science students will have a wider choice of Master programs in the Netherlands and Europe
  • Entry on the international labor market is facilitated by the international orientation of the degree and command of Business English
  • A truly international teaching and learning environment, ranging from ample attention paid to the complexities of multicultural business communication to faculty evaluation of programs and methods simultaneously on three continents.

Jan van Gemert, president of Gemco Cast Metal Technology is very positive about the new Dual Degree program offered by Business School Notenboom.
Van Gemert: "Gemco provides roughly a hundred experts in the fields of Consultancy, Engineering and Contracting for the foundry industry, mainly that part of the industry aimed at the production of automobile parts. Gemco clients operate on a worldwide basis in Europe, America and Asia. In almost all of our accounts the language used is English. All our contracts, reports etc. are written in English too. I strongly advise students to opt for a business course taught in English. It would also be a good extra course for our technical engineers to follow.

René Meeuwissen is the President of De Meeuw Building Systems, a Dutch company with sales offices and production facilities in Germany, Belgium and Switzerland. "We always have a few Dutch Employees in the foreign locations," says René Meeuwissen. "This is important in order to ‘keep in touch’ with the main office."

According to Meeuwissen graduates who have completed a business course taught in English would certainly have an advantage over other applicants. "It would save the company having to organise a language course. This is a much better basis for the placement of Marketing or Sales managers in our foreign locations. Speaking fluent English is an important requirement for all managerial positions abroad. If you then also have a good command and understanding of the sales and commerce idiom, you will be accepted in an international context all the quicker.
